MANJUNATH Karnataka Legislative Assembly Speaker and Mangaluru MLA U. T. Khader on Tuesday, said the government has approved laying of underground power cables in parts of Mangaluru City Corporation, Ullal City Municipal Council, Someshwara Town Municipal Council and Kotekar Town Panchayat at an estimated cost of about ₹293 crore. The sanctioned works, to be executed by Mangalore Electricity Supply Company and Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Ltd., would commence soon, Mr. Khader told reporters before attending a meeting at the MESCOM Corporate Office here. He said tenders for the works were finalised and work order issued on March 25.
