Pondicherry University Vice-Chancellor P. Prakash Babu inaugurated several new facilities, including an academic building for School of Law at a function held on the campus. Director of Studies K. Tharanikkarasu was also present. A dedicated high tension (HT) feeder line has been provided to the staff quarters of the Pondicherry University. According to a release, electrical works were taken up on the campus for around ₹6.5 crore in a phased manner. The works to convert the overhead HT lines to underground HT cables had been under way in the university from 2013 and now the work for providing a dedicated line to the staff quarters has been completed. The staff quarters used to face frequent power outages owing to disruption in the overhead lines. The dedicated underground electric line would address the problem, the release added.
