The LPG gas shortage caused by the war in West Asia has highlighted the need for a wider acceptance of electricity-based cooking and transport, Soumya Garnaik, India Country Representative, Global Green Growth Institute, an inter-governmental agency based in Seoul, South Korea, said here on Wednesday.

In his inaugural address of the conference titled ‘Advances in Green, Net-Zero Innovation – Sustainability 2026,’ hosted by the Department of Energy and Environment (DEE), National Institute of Technology-Tiruchi (NIT-T) on Wednesday, Mr. Garnaik said that as the geopolitical uncertainty continues in West Asia, countries like India would need to tap into renewable energy to manage the shortage of fossil fuel-based options.
