The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has geared up to launch the girders for the six-lane, ₹56 crore bridge across River Phalguni (Gurupura) on Kanniyakumari-Panvel National Highway 66 at Kulur in the City.

In a day or two, the contractor would start launching the girders one by one, said NHAI Mangaluru Project Director (PD) Abdulla Javed Azmi. The Authority had promised to commission the six-lane bridge, located between the old and new bridges, at Kulur, by May-end. Girder launching would take about 30-35 days to get completed, followed by commissioning of the bridge, the PD said.
