Expanding on their renewable push, state-owned Gas Authority of India Ltd (GAIL) informed on Tuesday (April 14, 2026) that it would be setting up 700 megawatts worth solar power projects in Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra with an investment outlay of ₹3,800 crore. The state-owned gas distribution and marketing company would develop a 600 MW solar power project along with a 55 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) at TUSCO Solar Park in Jhansi (Uttar Pradesh). In addition to this, GAIL would also be setting up a 100 MW solar power project with a 22 MWh BESS in Maharashtra’s Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar.
