The AIADMK candidate for Coimbatore South, Amman K. Arjunan, has submitted a complaint to the Election Officer, Coimbatore South, alleging that the DMK cadre are distributing coupons for ₹8,000 to voters in the constituency. According to the complaint, the DMK has put up sheds in vacant plots and godowns in the constituency, inviting people to these places and distributing ₹8,000 coupon. The cadre are asking the beneficiaries to produce their voter ID card and family card, urging them to vote for the ‘Rising Sun’ symbol with an assurance that if they do so, they can buy any of the specified products for ₹8,000 when the DMK returns to power. When the AIADMK complained about this to the flying squads, the officials seized the coupons and warned those who distributed them.
