State Sugarcane Growers’ Association president Kurubur Shanthakumar addressing farmers at a meeting in Mysuru on Monday (April 13). | Photo Credit: M.A. Sriram The State Sugarcane Growers’ Association has threatened to launch an indefinite agitation in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Mysuru from April 21 to demand payment of sugarcane dues to farmers by sugar factories. Association president Kurubur Shanthakumar said an additional ₹100 per tonne fixed by the State government should be paid immediately to the farmers by Bannari Amman and Mahadeshwara sugar factories.
