The Kollam Vigilance Court on Monday granted bail to former Travancore Devaswom Board member K.P. Sankara Das, an accused in the Sabarimala gold theft case. With this, all the accused in the gold theft case in Sabarimala walked out of jail as the special investigation team (SIT) failed to file a chargesheet within the mandatory 90-day period. In the latest development, Mr. Das was granted regular bail as the agency failed to file a chargesheet in a time-bound manner even months after his arrest. Mr. Shankaradas has been granted bail in the cases related to the theft of gold from Dwarapalaka (guardian deity) idols and the Sreekovil (sanctum sanctorum) doorframe.
