College of Agriculture, Vellayani | Photo Credit: Special arrangement The College of Agriculture, Vellayani is planning to strengthen research in climate-smart and precision agriculture while deepening international collaborations to promote innovation-driven agricultural development, according to the college officials. A constituent institution of Kerala Agricultural University (KAU), the college secured the first position in the Agriculture and Allied Sector in the latest Kerala Institutional Ranking Framework (KIRF) announced by the State government. Future plans include expanding technology incubation and start-up support, building on the strengths that earned the college the top position in the KIRF rankings, officials said. Established as Kerala’s first agricultural college, the institution is currently celebrating its Platinum Jubilee year. Dean of Faculty Jacob John said the KIRF recognition reflects the collective dedication of faculty, students, staff, and alumni in advancing both academic excellence and farmer-centred innovation.
