Vedaranyam salt satyagraha march commemorated

Members of the Salt Satyagraha Movement marked the 96th anniversary of the historic march from Tiruchi to Vedaranyam in protest against the salt tax levied by the British, with a remembrance meeting in the city on Monday.

The event commemorated the march undertaken on April 13, 1930, when 100 volunteers set out from T.S.S. Rajan Bungalow under the leadership of Rajaji to gather salt at Vedaranyam protesting against the salt tax.
