The Election Commission of India (ECI) has confirmed the symbols assigned to the 18 candidates contesting in the elections from the three Assembly segments in The Nilgiris. While the candidates from the main political parties – the DMK (rising sun), AIADMK (two leaves), Indian National Congress (hand) Naam Tamilar Katchi (farmer carrying plough) and Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (whistle) were all confirmed, the ECI said that the Tamilaga Valvurimai Katchi candidate, R. Suvitha, will contest under the symbol of camera and an independent candidate, R. Manian, (both contesting in Ooty) will contest under the symbol of CCTV camera.
