The ‘Pancha Gramalu’ land issue took another turn on Sunday, with the Samaikya Praja and Rythu Sankshema Sangham staging a protest over the delay in resolving the long-pending dispute. The association questioned the State government for fast-tracking land allotments to corporates while leaving local residents in uncertainty for years.

Addressing a protest march from Vepagunta Junction to the Gopalapatnam Rythu Bazar here, former CPI(M) corporator B. Ganga Rao highlighted what he described as a stark irony. He said the government had facilitated the allotment of 160 acres of Simhachalam land to a corporate entity, while denying basic ownership rights to thousands of residents who have lived in the area for decades.
