DMK president and Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Sunday launched a sharp attack on AIADMK leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami, accusing him of resorting to personal criticism to divert attention from past incidents including the 2018 police firing in Thoothukudi.

Addressing an election campaign in Thoothukudi, Mr. Stalin said people would not forget the police firing on May 22, 2018, in Thoothukudi, in which 13 innocent persons were killed. Mr. Palaniswami was now speaking about the law and order situation, however, during the police firing incident, he had said he was unaware of the deaths and had come to know about them only through television, despite being the charge of the police department at that time. “This reflects the nature of his governance,” Mr Stalin said
