A series of tragic drowning incidents has claimed the lives of six children in different water bodies across Alluri Sitharama Raju district over the past four days. All the victims were minors and school-going children who had ventured into the water to escape the summer heat, turning moments of joy into devastating loss.

On April 9, three girls drowned at a waterfall in Hukumpeta mandal. While they were playing in the water, a friend was taking photographs. Within moments, they were swept away by the current and drowned before help could reach them. In a separate incident on Sunday, three boys aged 10 and 11 drowned while playing in a water body at Matysagundem in Hukumpeta mandal.
