A total of 3,596 people across the 10 Assembly constituencies in Madurai would cast their votes from their homes, said District Election Officer K.J. Praveen Kumar here on Sunday. According to a press release, he said that as per the guidelines of the Election Commission of India, persons with disabilities and those above 85 years of age were given the option of casting their votes in the election for the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly. While the voting takes place on April 23 for the general public in the State, the ECI had proposed the idea to vote from their homes for persons with disabilities and those who were aged and could not move.
