The fishermen had ventured into the sea from the Karaikal harbour around 10 a.m. on April 10. | Photo Credit: Representational image A total of 12 fishermen, including five from Tamil Nadu, were apprehended by the Sri Lankan Navy on Saturday night for allegedly crossing the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL), sources said. The fishermen had ventured into the sea in a mechanised boat, owned by Veeravel of Tsunami Nagar at Kilinjalmedu in Karaikal district, from the Karaikal fishing harbour around 10 a.m. on April 10. While they were fishing about 60 nautical miles off Karaikal, the boat was intercepted by the Sri Lankan Navy around 9 p.m. on April 11, and all 12 fishermen on board were taken into custody.
