International Fishermen Development Trust (INFIDET) has thanked the government of India, Tamil Nadu government and Indian embassies in Iran and Armenia for the successful rescue of Indian fishermen stranded in Iran. According to INFIDET president P. Justin Antony, around 300 fishermen from Tamil Nadu and Gujarat arrived in Chennai on Saturday. He added that the INFIDET had sent a request to the Prime Minister of India, Home Minister, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and Kanniyakumari District Collector, urging swift, war-footed efforts to ensure the safe return of remaining fishermen from Iran.
