The Thirukkanur Police have arrested a 31-year-old person hailing from Villupuram for casting bogus vote by impersonating another person at Mannadipet constituency during the Assembly election held in Puducherry on April 9. Police identified the accused as Prasanth alias Aravind, a resident of Villupuram district in Tamil Nadu. BJP leader and Home Minister A. Namassivayam is pitted against Congress candidate T.P.R Selvame in Mannadipet constituency. A clash had erupted between the Congress and BJP workers on the polling day near the booth over the alleged bogus voting incident.
