Over 8,000 senior citizens above 85 years and differently abled voters of Kanniyakumari district will cast their postal ballots for the Assembly elections, from April 12 to April 14.

According to a press release from the district administration, 149 designated teams led by zonal officers, including micro observers, an armed policeman, representatives of political parties and videographers, would visit the homes of these voters with the postal ballot. The votes polled by them would be safely brought back to the Office of Returning officer concerned to be kept in the sealed ballot box.

In the district, Kanniyakumari constituency has 2,341 postal ballot voters and 29 teams have been assigned. 1,147 voters are in Nagercoil constituency with 19 teams assigned for the process. Colachel and Padmanabhapuram constituency have 1,235 and 1,707 voters respectively, with 25 and 24 teams. Vilavancode constituency has 1,048 voters and 25 teams have been assigned. 27 teams have been deployed for Killiyoor constituency, which has 1,074 voters.
