Cone speakers, banned for generating noise beyond permissible limits, were found to be in use during the Assembly election campaign in the district. The Supreme Court, in its July 18, 2005 verdict, had prohibited the use of cone speakers that cause noise pollution beyond tolerable levels. However, such devices have been fitted in autorickshaws to play songs of political parties and continue to be used during the campaign period.
