In a bid to improve tourist footfall, the Tirupati district administration added Ubbalamadugu waterfalls into the Pulicat tourist circuit. The decision was taken ahead of the ‘Flamingo Festival 2026’ to be held at Pulicat Bird Sanctuary falling under Sullurpeta constituency from January 10.

An awareness rally was taken out from Sri Venkateswara University stadium to Nalugukalla Mandapam junction in Tirupati on Thursday, inviting the public to participate in large numbers.

Tirupati Collector S. Venkateswar, who flagged off the rally, announced that the Nelapattu Bird Sanctuary, BV Palem boating point, Atakanithippa Bird Museum would be thronged by tourists for the next two days and hence they have been made ‘tourist-ready’.

While 3-4 lakh visitors thronged the spot for the three-day festival last year, the Collector expected a higher turnout this year. He announced steps to take care of the migratory birds flocking to Nelapattu for the season every year and develop an ecosystem without affecting the livelihood of the villagers.

Meanwhile, Sri City and its allied industrial units will conduct a workshop on biodiversity under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

Ministers Anagani Satyaprasad (Revenue), Kandula Durgesh (Tourism) and Anam Ramanarayana Reddy (Endowments) will take part in the inaugural session on Saturday.
