The police have stepped up vigil in all border checkposts of Coimbatore district in view of the approaching Assembly election, to curb possible circulation of unaccounted cash, freebies, liquor, weapons, explosives and contraband substances.

The police sources said that special focus was being given to inter-State checkposts bordering the Palakkad and Thrissur districts of Kerala.
