The Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) has introduced a Periodic Health Check-up (PHC) system to safeguard employee health and prevent untimely deaths during service, according to Commissioner, Public Transport Department and ex-officio Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of APSRTC N. Balasubramanyam. In a statement issued on Friday, Mr. Balasubramanyam said the decision follows a rise in deaths among employees, particularly drivers, due to cardiac and other serious health-related conditions. Until now, periodic medical examinations were limited to drivers. The revised system will now cover employees across all categories.
