Kerala recorded 78.23% polling in the Assembly elections held on Thursday after what has been a short but intense period of electioneering in the State. According to the Election Commission of India (EC), 80.86% of female voters, 75.01% of male voters, and 57.04% of transgender voters in Kerala cast their votes. Voters in Kerala must now wait till May 4 for the polled votes to be counted and the results declared in the 140 constituencies. Leaders of all the three fronts — the ruling Communist Party of India (Marxist)-led Left Democratic Front, Congress-led United Democratic Front, and the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance — exuded confidence about the outcome.
