A 49-year-old school teacher was arrested under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act in Salem on Thursday evening (April 9, 2026). The arrested, P. Balasubramaniam of Kambar Street in Chinna Tirupathi, was working in a government middle school in Sankari taluk. Meanwhile, girl students studying in classes VI to VIII claimed that the teacher was sexually assaulting them and informed their parents. Parents who came to the school inquired with the school headmistress. Following the allegation, the school education department conducted an inquiry and suspended him on Wednesday (April 8, 2026).
