A total of 18 candidates will contest the elections in the three Assembly segments of Udhagamandalam (Ooty), Gudalur and Coonoor in The Nilgiris. According to officials, 44 candidates had filed their nominations, out of which only 20 were accepted. After two more candidates withdrew their nominations, the total number of candidates in the three Assembly segments has narrowed to just 18, with six candidates contesting in each of the three Assembly segments.
