Nine persons were awarded life imprisonment for murder in Salem on Thursday (April 9, 2026). According to the police, Manoj Kumar (25), was a resident of Valluvar Nagar near Annathanapatti. On August 12, 2015, regarding a quarrel that erupted while playing carrom, R. Syed Khadar Basha (35), a resident of Pandal Kaliamman Kovil Street and R. Prakash (34), a resident of Shanmuga Nagar, attacked Manoj. Later, Manoj, along with his brother Vignesh and his friends, went to Maniyanoor, and again a verbal duel broke out between them. Syed and Prakash, along with their accomplices, attacked Manoj. In the attack, Manoj died on the spot.
