The Nagole police have registered a case against 23-year-old auto driver identified as Sapavath Mahesh after a 19-year-old woman sustained critical injuries after falling from an overhead water tank in the Nagole area on January 5. The accused, a resident of Madura Nagar in BN Reddy Nagar, originally from Das Thanda village in Suryapet district, has been accused of harassing the woman and pressuring her to marry him. The complaint was lodged by the woman’s father, Gugulothu Srinu, a farmer from Bhadradri Kothagudem district. According to the complaint, the woman, Aishwarya, 19, who had studied up to Intermediate, had been living in a rented house at Tattiannaram in the Nagole area along with her elder brother, Aravind. Her father stated that the accused had been repeatedly calling her over the phone and harassing her in the name of love. He alleged that Mahesh would frequently meet her when her brother was not at home. On January 5, at about 4 p.m., Mahesh allegedly met Aishwarya at her residence and took her in his auto to a housing board colony nearby. Police said Aishwarya climbed onto an overhead water tank, after which Mahesh also went there. Following a conversation between them, she allegedly jumped from the tank between 5.30 p.m. and 6 p.m., sustaining severe injuries. She was shifted to a private hospital in Nagole, where her condition was stated to be critical. Her father alleged that continuous harassment and mental pressure drove his daughter into depression and led to the incident.
