A bomb scare sparked tension and panic among staff, lawyers, and clients at the district court at Manjeri on Thursday (January 8, 2026) after an alarming e-mail landed in the court’s official mailbox.

The police cordoned off the premises and conducted a thorough search with the help of dog and bomb squads, but nothing suspicious was found. The threat was later confirmed to be a hoax.

The e-mail claimed that three bombs, made of C-4 and RDX, had been planted at key locations in the court complex and would be detonated remotely during the mid-day break. It also warned that if the bombs failed to explode, suicide squads would be deployed to trigger them.

Police launched an investigation into the incident.
