Enforcement Directorate (ED) Deputy Director P. Radhakrishnan, who was in charge of investigating politically significant cases such as the diplomatic gold smuggling and the KIIFB case, has been reportedly forced to go on compulsory retirement from the service.

Mr. Radhakrishnan had made crucial arrests in the diplomatic parcel gold smuggling case, including that of M. Sivasankar, former Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister. During the investigation of these cases, the State police had launched an investigation against him following which he had approached the Kerala High Court.

Two women police officers, who were assigned as guards for gold smuggling case accused Swapna Suresh had raised allegations against Mr. Radhakrishnan. They claimed that he had forced the accused to mention the Chief Minister’s name in connection with the case. A voice recording of Swapna also emerged reinforcing the allegation. Later, Swapna claimed that recording were made under compulsion.

In the midst of this, Mr. Radhakrishnan was first transferred to Chennai and later to Kashmir. Several corruption allegations were also raised against and complaints submitted to the Enforcement Director.

Mr. Radhakrishnan could not be reached for comments.
