Peking, April 8: The fall of a new “renegade” for “counter revolutionary” activities and the appointment of a successor to the late Premier Chou En-lai gave rise in Peking to-day to the biggest mass demonstration seen in China since the Cultural Revolution of the late Sixties.

Several hundred thousand people, may be a million, took part in the huge assembly, superbly orchestrated by the Chinese communist party to dump Ten Hsiaoping in the ‘rubbish bin of history’.
