Thana Street, nestled in the bustling market hub of Purasawalkam, was busier on Wednesday as the campaign trail rolled through the stretch, drawing shoppers, traders, and cheering cadre, and residents to the roadside.

The rhythmic chenda melam filled the street well before the arrival of Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, lending the trail a festive air as the crowd began to swell. Colourful flags and placards bearing the symbols of the DMK and its allies dotted the street, turning the stretch into a vibrant campaign corridor. As the crowd waited, a light music band took over, performing political songs set to popular film tunes that kept the energy alive and ensured that people stayed despite the oppressive, sultry evening weather. Announcements were made at regular intervals, cautioning the people to stay safe. Chennai Mayor R. Priya and DMK candidate for Egmore S. Prasanna, popularly called Tamilan Prasanna, arrived earlier at the site and clicked pictures with the cadre and residents and sought votes.
