The Cuddalore New Town police on Wednesday night arrested three persons for illegally procuring pain-relief tablets from Gujarat and stocking them for sale. A total of 600 tablets were seized from the trio. Police said a team was on patrol at Vandipalayam near Cuddalore when they found M. Manish, 24, of Sorakalpattai, moving around in a suspicious manner. After conducting a search, the team found that he had concealed 200 pain-relief tablets for sale. He was arrested for illegal possession of the tablets. The police also arrested S. Deepan alias Deepan Kumar, 32, of Namakkal and A. Muralidharan, 29, of Erode district in connection with another case and seized 400 tablets from them. During investigation, it was revealed that the accused had procured the pain-relief tablets through courier from one Dinesh Kumar in Gujarat. The trio was produced before a local court and remanded in custody. The police have launched a search for Dinesh Kumar and a few others who are at large.
