Approximately 17.8 crore people are set to vote in these polls If you are voting in any of these elections, it is important to know the documents that you can use to cast your vote on the day of polling. Also Read | West Bengal SIR 2026: How to check your name in final voter list Here are the documents you can use: Voter Identification Card (EPIC) The standard document issued by the Election Commission of India (ECI) to identify all voters. This is the primary document that is used to cast your vote in all elections. Apart from this, there are also 11 alternative documents that can be used to cast the vote. Aadhaar Card PAN Card Indian Passport Driving Licence Bank/Post Office Passbooks with photos Service Identity Card Pension Documents MGNREGA Job Card Health Insurance Smart Card issued by the Ministry of Labour Smart Card (RGI/NPR) Official ID for MPs/MLAs/MLCs Can a voting slip be used to cast vote? Each eligible voter will be issued a voting slip a few days before the polling to make sure they can reach the voting centre easily. But this is not the official ID required to cast the vote. Any of the thirteen documents is required to successfully cast your vote. Eligibility to vote A person is eligible to vote in the Assembly Elections 2026 if they are a citizen of India, are 18 years or older on the qualifying date for the election, are a resident in the polling area of the constituency, and their name is included in the official electoral roll(voter list) for your constituency. How to verify eligibility? A person can check if their name is already on the voter list at the ECI electoral search portal. New voters can register for inclusion in the voter’s list by filling out Form 6 on the voter’s service portal of the Election Commission of India.
