SRM University-AP, Amaravati, hosted an ‘AR/VR Innovation Workshop’ in collaboration with the Young Innovators STEM Lab (YISL), the Indo-U.S. Science and Technology Forum (IUSSTF), and STEAM Varsity, an EdTech organisation specialising in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) education. The event was organised with support from the GeeksforGeeks (GfG) Campus Body at SRM-AP. The workshop introduced immersive technologies through a practical, project-based approach and learning-by-doing method, enabling participants to actively engage with cutting-edge tools and technologies. Over 200 students registered for the workshop from schools, colleges, and universities from across Amaravati and the surrounding regions. Co-founder of TEAM Varsity Dharam Raj Panwar, Makerspace Officer Paras Deshmukh, R&D Head Mohammad Mustafa Ghazi and STEAM facilitators Devanand and Shashank Chandel mentored students on building AR/VR apps, exploring AR/VR and WebXR technologies and design thinking methodologies. Vice Chancellor, SRM-AP, Ch. Satish Kumar said workshops like these provide students with hands-on exposure to cutting-edge technologies, equipping them with the skills needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving digital landscape. He appreciated the young dynamic team from STEAM Varsity and encouraged them to visit the one-of-a-kind Quantum Computer being assembled on campus. Associate Professor and Faculty Convenor Ashok Kumar Pradhan, Student Coordinator Mahesh Babu Chittem, Associate Dean – School of Engineering and Sciences Jayaseelan Murugaiyan also spoke on the occasion.
