A 35-year-old man, K. Ponraj Vignesh, was found murdered and his body burnt along Koushika River in Niraivazhvu Nagar in Virudhunagar on Wednesday night. The police said that Ponraj of Allampatti was working in an eatery run by his father, Kannan. Police enquiry revealed that Ponraj was murdered by persons of the same locality identified as G. Krishnasamy, 20, and his friend Anbuselvam. According to police, Ponraj, who is a divorcee, had been friendly with a girl who was in love with Krishnasamy. Angered over this, the duo had taken Ponraj to a secluded place near Aathupalam and assaulted him with stones and wooden log. After murdering him, they burnt his body. Virudhunagar Bazar police have arrested Krishnasamy and were on the lookout for the absconding Anbuselvam.
