Botlaguduru village in Markapuram district recorded this season’s highest daytime temperature of 43.4 degrees Celsius, even as the other part of Andhra Pradesh, including Srikakulam and Anakapalli districts, received moderate rainfall on Tuesday.

According to A.P. State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA), as of 7 p.m., Korlam of Srikakulam district got 59.5 mm rains followed by Rajam (54 mm) in Anakapalli district, Chuchukonda of Visakhapatnam district (39.5 mm) and Anakapalli (37.5 mm). On Tuesday, 155 mandals in the State recorded above 40 degrees Celsius.

On Wednesday, light to moderate rains, thunderstorms and lightning are likely in some areas of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Parvathipuram Manyam, Alluri Sitharama Raju, Polavaram, Visakhapatnam, Anakapalli, Kakinada, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema, East Godavari, West Godavari, Eluru, Krishna, NTR, and Guntur districts. Officials have cautioned the public against stepping out and taking shelter under trees during rain and lightning.

APSDMA Managing Director Prakhar Jain said heat is expected to rise on Wednesday.
