Assembly elections: Follow LIVE updates on April 7, 2026 Mr. Choudhary asserted that the BJP was committed to expelling the infiltrators, establishing democracy and restoring Bengali identity and pride. Mr. Choudhary was in Howrah to attend the nomination filing of several candidates contesting the West Bengal Assembly elections. “Just as West Bengal played the most pivotal role in the struggle for independence, Bengali society is now ready to rise and overthrow the Mamata government — a regime characterised by its support for infiltrators, anti-Hindu stance, and anarchic governance,” Mr. Choudhary said while addressing a public rally organised near the Howrah Municipal Corporation (HMC) office on MG Road. Mr. Choudhary, who is also on the list of star campaigners for the West Bengal elections, asserted that if the people wished to put an end to infiltration in West Bengal, establish good governance, and prevent the recurrence of incidents like the one in Sandeshkhali, they must ensure the victory of the BJP. He termed Mamata Banerjee’s “outsiders versus insiders” slogan as a mere political gimmick. He declared that if the BJP formed the government, the Chief Minister of West Bengal would not be an “outsider”, but rather a son or daughter of West Bengal. He alleged that West Bengal has witnessed a massive scam involving 26,000 government jobs, which is like robbing the youth of rightful opportunities. He claomed that 8,000 government schools — where Bengali children used to study — were shut down, whereas Madrasas were allowed to remain operational. Mr. Choudhary pledged that just as the Bihar government had provided government jobs and employment opportunities to five million people over the past five years, similar large-scale job creation initiatives would be undertaken in West Bengal as well. He added that the people of West Bengal would also receive the benefits of the Ayushman Card and the 7th Pay Commission will be implemented. The BJP leader also alleged that Mamata Banerjee’s government was shielding infiltrators, and that an atmosphere of anarchy prevailed in the State. “Hindus in Bengal are facing persecution, and hooliganism has surged. In an effort to consolidate her vote bank, “Mamata Didi” is inviting Bangladeshis and actively encouraging infiltration. Mamata Didi is opposing the National Register of Citizens (NRC) and attempting to protect infiltrators. Just as infiltrators were removed from the voter lists in Bihar, a similar drive will be undertaken to expel Bangladeshis from West Bengal,” he claimed. He emphasised that the West Bengal election was not merely a matter concerning the State, but also linked to the security of the entire nation. Mr. Choudhary also took a dig at the issue of migration in the state. At one time, people from all corners of the country would flock to Kolkata in search of employment; today, however, the trend has reversed, and people were migrating out, he added.
