Revenue officials, led by Ainavilli Tahsildar Ch. Vidhyapathi, on Tuesday cleared an encroachment of 15 cents of government land amid protests by YSRCP supporters at K. Jagannadhapuram Panchayat in Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Konaseema district. The action came a day after District Collector R. Mahesh Kumar suspended the Village Revenue Officer of K. Jagannadhapuram Panchayat for his alleged role in facilitating the encroachment by former Sarpanch Medasetti Srinivasa Babu, who is also YSRCP Ainavilli Mandal in-charge. The encroachment of government land (Survey No. 73/4) came to light after villagers lodged a grievance. In his field report, Mr. Vidhyapathi stated that the former Sarpanch had encroached upon the land by creating fake documents with forged signatures of revenue officials. On Tuesday, revenue officials, with police support, removed sheds erected on the encroached land.
