Researchers at the CSIR-Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB) and the L.V. Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI), in a unique collaborative study, have uncovered alarming levels of Anti-Microbial Resistance (AMR) in bacteria causing eye infections.

The study, published in ’Communications Biology’, is one of the most comprehensive genomic analyses of eye pathogens from India till date. The research was led by CCMB scientists Karthik Bharadwaj and Divya Tej Sowpati, along with LVPEI’s Joveeta Joseph.
