YSR Congress Party’s (YSRCP) protest near the office of a noted Telugu media house in Hyderabad on Tuesday triggered a sharp political exchange between the ruling and opposition parties. YSRCP leaders staged a demonstration objecting to certain content put out by the media house, which they alleged were inappropriate and not in line with responsible journalism. Several former Ministers and MLAs participated in the protest, raising slogans and calling for ethical standards in the media. Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu strongly condemned what he described as an “attempted attack” on the media organisation. In a statement, he termed the incident as an assault on press freedom and criticised the YSRCP leaders for allegedly mobilising supporters towards the media office. HRD Minister Nara Lokesh criticised the protest, alleging that such actions reflected a “damaging political culture.” He asserted that media organisations should be countered with facts and responses rather than intimidation. The YSRCP, however, maintained that its protest was democratic and aimed at holding the media accountable for what it considered “biased reporting.” Published – April 07, 2026 06:53 pm IST Share this: Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window) WhatsApp Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) Facebook Click to share on Threads (Opens in new window) Threads Click to share on X (Opens in new window) X Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window) Telegram Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window) LinkedIn Click to share on Pinterest (Opens in new window) Pinterest Click to email a link to a friend (Opens in new window) Email More Click to print (Opens in new window) Print Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window) Reddit Click to share on Tumblr (Opens in new window) Tumblr Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window) Pocket Click to share on Mastodon (Opens in new window) Mastodon Click to share on Nextdoor (Opens in new window) Nextdoor Click to share on Bluesky (Opens in new window) Bluesky Like this:Like Loading...
