The mangalotsava of the two-year-long Kashi Mutt seer late Sudhindra Tirtha Swami’s birth centenary celebrations will be held on January 11, at the Venkataramana Temple on Car Street in Mangaluru.

Talking to reporters on January 8, Managing Trustee of Venkataramana Temple, C.A. Jagannath Kamath, stated that the Bhajan Sankeertana Yatra will take place at 3.30 p.m. on January 11, starting from Kashi Mutt’s branch in Konchady. Devotees from across the State will participate in the ‘Padukakas’ procession of Sudhindra Tirtha, singing bhajans. The yatra will pass through Mary Hill, Yeyyadi, KPT, KSRTC, M.G. Road, PVS Junction and Canara High School, and culminate at the Venkataramana Temple.

Kashi Mutt seer Samyamindra Tirtha will join the devotees in the procession from Swadeshi Stores to Venkataramana Temple. The seer will be accompanied by a gold palanquin carrying idols of the Mutt’s presiding deity. The mangalotsava stage programme will take place at the temple premises at 8.30 p.m., he said.

D. Vedavyas Kamath, MLA for Mangaluru City South, said those taking part in the procession can park their vehicles at the Canara Vikas College ground at St. Aloysius College Gate 1 and Gate C, and at the Loyola Auditorium ground of St. Aloysius College. Dinner will be provided to devotees near the Mahamaya Temple, the Umamaheshwari Temple and at the Health Care Centre near the old New Chitra Theatre.
