Govarthan Following objections raised by AIADMK agents, the nomination filed by Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) candidate K.A. Sengottaiyan for contesting from Gobichettipalayam Assembly constituency was kept on hold during scrutiny on Tuesday (April 7, 2026). Returning Officer S. Sivanandham, who is also the Sub-Collector, directed Mr. Sengottaiyan, who is also a former AIADMK Minister, to furnish clarifications by 5 p.m. A total of 44 nominations were filed in the constituency, and scrutiny began on Tuesday. When Mr. Sengottaiyan’s papers were taken up, representatives of AIADMK candidate V.B. Prabhu pointed to alleged discrepancies in the affidavit. They contended that the notary public’s licence cited in the affidavit had expired and that the candidate had failed to disclose details of a house under construction. The objections were submitted in writing, seeking rejection of the nomination. However, the Returning Officer asked the candidate’s agents to submit clarifications and kept the nomination pending till 5 p.m. Published – April 07, 2026 03:21 pm IST Share this: Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window) WhatsApp Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) Facebook Click to share on Threads (Opens in new window) Threads Click to share on X (Opens in new window) X Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window) Telegram Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window) LinkedIn Click to share on Pinterest (Opens in new window) Pinterest Click to email a link to a friend (Opens in new window) Email More Click to print (Opens in new window) Print Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window) Reddit Click to share on Tumblr (Opens in new window) Tumblr Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window) Pocket Click to share on Mastodon (Opens in new window) Mastodon Click to share on Nextdoor (Opens in new window) Nextdoor Click to share on Bluesky (Opens in new window) Bluesky Like this:Like Loading...
