Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will inaugurate newly procured fire service vehicles and equipment at the Parade Grounds in Amaravati on Wednesday (April 8, 2026) at 4 p.m, as part of the State’s fire safety modernisation programme.

The procurement is part of a broader upgrade of the Fire Services Department at a total cost of ₹252.93 crore, based on the 15th Finance Commission’s recommendations. Of this, equipment worth ₹33.25 crore has been newly inducted and will be formally launched by the Chief Minister, who will also inspect the fleet.

The new equipment includes 25 advanced water tenders, 40 quick response vehicles fitted with high-pressure pumps, 50 inflatable rubber boats, and 30 breathing apparatus set compressors. Officials said ₹18 crore was spent on the advanced fire tenders, ₹10 crore on quick response vehicles, ₹2.49 crore on boats, and ₹2.08 crore on compressors.

Under the funding pattern, the Centre put in ₹189.70 crore (75%); the State share was ₹63.23 crore (25%). The allocation earmarks 50% for modernisation, 30% for expansion, 15% for state-specific needs, and 5% for training.

Andhra Pradesh has used 100% of its central funds, making it a top performer nationally in fire service modernisation projects, authorities said.
