A total of 628 nominations have been filed for the 16 Assembly constituencies in Chennai district for the 2026 Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly election as of Monday.

According to data, 346 nominations were received on the final day alone.

The Perambur constituency recorded the highest number of filings with 66 nominations, followed by Kolathur with 56, and Dr. Radhakrishnan Nagar with 47.

Other major filings included 43 in Virugambakkam, 42 in Royapuram, and 41 in Chepauk-Thiruvallikeni. The Mylapore constituency saw the fewest filings with 25 nominations.

Official notices in Form 3-A issued by the Returning Officers of various constituencies, including Saidapet, Royapuram, and Thiyagarayanagar, confirmed the receipt of nominations from candidates representing recognised political parties, registered political groups, and independents.

In Thiyagarayanagar, 39 nominations were filed in total, including 11 on the final day. The Harbour constituency received 34 nominations, while Velachery registered 36.

The nomination papers were received at the respective offices of the Returning Officers until the 3 p.m. deadline on Monday. These documents contain details of candidate including their age, party affiliation, and the electoral roll numbers of their proposers.
