A total of 99 candidates filed 125 nominations to contest in the eight Assembly constituencies in the district on the final day of filing nomination for the Tamil Nadu Assembly election, here, on Monday. The number of nominations filed in each constituency is as follows: Erode (East) – 19; Erode (West) – 10; Modakkurichi – 12; Perundurai – 11; Bhavani – 13; Anthiyur – 24; Gobichettipalayam – 17; and Bhavanisagar (Reserved) – 19. Scrutiny of nominations will take place on April 7, and nominations can be withdrawn till 3 p.m. on April 9. Polling is scheduled for April 23.
