Minister for MSMEs and Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty (SERP) Kondapalli Srinivas on Monday launched the distribution of smartphones to Village Organisation Assistants (VOAs).

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Srinivas said the 5G-enabled devices were being provided to strengthen digital communication and enable VOAs to deliver services more efficiently.

He recalled that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu had initiated DWCRA groups three decades ago, which have since emerged as a shining example of women’s leadership.

The Minister appreciated SERP Chief Executive Officer V. Karuna and district-level officials for their dedicated efforts towards women’s empowerment.

He assured the VOAs that he would take up with the Chief Minister the proposal to provide ₹10 lakh accident insurance cover.

Mr. Srinivas noted that although the Central and State governments had introduced numerous schemes for women, awareness levels remained low.

He emphasised that the Chief Minister’s vision was to see an entrepreneur emerge from every household and said the MSME Department was working towards achieving that goal.

SERP Additional Chief Executive Officer R. Sriramulu Naidu, Director A. Kalyan Chakravarthy, Stree Nidhi Managing Director Hariprasad, Director Siva Sankar and others were present.
