File | Photo Credit: Reuters At least 45 people have lost their lives and 105 sustained injuries in rain-related incidents across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in northwest Pakistan over the last 10 days, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) said on Sunday (April 5, 2026). In a report that covers damages caused by persistent rains since March 25, the PDMA said that among the total 45 fatalities, 23 are children, 17 men and 5 women while the injured comprised 45 men, 16 women, and 44 children. The heavy rainfall resulted in roof and wall collapses in multiple districts of the province, the PDMA report said, highlighting widespread human and material losses across the province. At least 442 houses have been affected, of which 382 were partially damaged, and 60 were destroyed in over two dozen districts. The PDMA report further stated that rescue and relief operations are ongoing, with PDMA, Rescue 1122, district administrations, and other relevant agencies working in close coordination. Meanwhile, the PDMA Director General has warned that a fresh spell of rain is expected across various parts of the province till April 9 and advised the tourists to avoid unnecessary travel, particularly to vulnerable and sensitive areas, and to strictly follow official advisories and alerts issued by the government agencies.
