The BJP was committed to making Puducherry a developed region by implementing the promises made by the Prime Minister and the 20-point agenda included in the party’s manifesto for the April 9 polls, its national president Nitin Nabin said on Sunday.

Addressing a public meeting at Thavalakuppam in Manavely constituency here, Mr. Nabin said the next National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government would endeavour to make Puducherry a developed region.

Urging people to vote for the formation of a strong NDA government in the Union Territory, Mr. Nabin said the BJP was committed to the overall development of the Union Territory.

The next NDA government would provide a top-up of ₹3,000 over and above the PM-KISAN financial assistance of ₹6,000. Thus the farmers of the Union Territory would get an enhanced sum of ₹9,000 under the PM-KISAN scheme, he said.

Dedicated job portal

Mr. Nabin said the NDA government would opena dedicated portal called ‘Thiran Paadhai’ for conducting quarterly employment drive, and would enable industries to offer 10,000 internships, with ₹10,000 monthly stipend to each individual.

The government will increase the fishing ban period assistance from ₹8000 to ₹12,000, he added.

“We will take Puducherry to the next level of development. The Prime Minister laid the foundation for various projects worth around ₹2,700 crore during his visit to the territory on March 1. Our government will fulfil all the promises made to the people of Puducherry,” the BJP president said.
