Karnataka Chief Minister on Sunday (April 5, 2026) accused the Narendra Modi-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government of pursuing policies that harm the poor, backward classes, minorities, Dalits, and women, while favouring corporate interests. Inaugurating a United Democratic Front (UDF) election rally at Majeerpala in Vorkadi panchayat, he alleged that the BJP has become a party serving only corporate interests. He said welfare-oriented initiatives, such as the Indira Gandhi scheme successfully implemented in Karnataka, would be introduced in Kerala by the UDF if voted to power. Mr. Siddaramaiah claimed that when the guarantee scheme was announced in Karnataka three years ago, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had ridiculed it, and now Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan was also similarly dismissing the proposal. He highlighted that Karnataka provides free electricity up to 200 units under the scheme and asserted that its implementation in the State would bring transformative change. Calling upon voters to support the UDF, he expressed confidence that the front would return to power in Kerala and urged the electorate to ensure a decisive victory for UDF candidate A.K.M. Ashraf. The meeting was attended by Karnataka Irrigation Minister N.S. Boseraju, Rajmohan Unnithan, MP, and other leaders.
